If your house has a private well and the well pump cycles on and off every few seconds, the pressure tank is probably "water logged." Cure by draining enough water out of the tank to leave it partially full. Then add air through the valve on the side or top of the tank. Mineral deposits in original galvanized supply pipes restrict water flow (and lowers the pressure) at showers, sinks, and bathtubs. Replace the accessible galvanized pipes (in older houses) with approved copper piping. Banging, (called "pipe hammer") is heard when quickly shutting off water fixtures. Install air cushions adjacent to the fixtures to eliminate the problem.
