Forced Air (furnace) - Have a technician service this system each September for gas fuel and September and February for fuel oil. The fan belt, filter, combustion efficiency, exhaust pipe, duct air leaks, and balancing, etc. should be included in the service call. Corrosion in the combustion chamber may indicate weak heat exchanger sheet metal which should be further investigated.

Forced Hot Water (boiler) - Have a technician service this system each September for gas fuel and September and February for fuel oil. The circulating pump, combustion efficiency, exhaust pipe, water leaks, and safety equipment, etc. should be included in the service call.

Steam Heat (boiler) - Have a technician service this system each September for gas fuel and September and February for fuel oil. The sight glass, Hartford Loop, low water cutoff valve, radiator air valves, combustion efficiency, exhaust pipe, water leaks, and safety equipment, etc. should be included in the service call.

Wood Heat - Burn only well seasoned fuel, have the chimney inspected prior to igniting the stove or fireplace, and clean the flue often, often, often.
