CAULK

Polyurethane, latex acrylic, and silicone are the basic choices you have when visiting your lumber or hardware store. Location, weather, movement, to-be-applied finishes, and in-place materials play important roles in a successful application. It's important not to expect caulk to be the lone soldier in your line of defense against those and other elements. Flashings, underlayment, and tight fitting joints, etc., should be in place prior to application. A little research goes a long way in achieving a long lasting, finished product you (and everyone else) will be impressed with.
